A.D."Tony" Blake (born 1951), a renowned New Zealand maritime painter (see adblake.com and visit Russell Jinishian Gallery in Stonington, CT) was commissioned by the Storm Trysail Club 30 years ago to paint these two magnificent oil paintings on canvas that commemorate Block Island Race Week. One painting shows the fleet returning from the race course to the Salt Pond. The other shows the fleet rounding Southeast Light during the Around the Island Race. The canvas’ are 24x32 inches, elegantly framed, and in perfect condition.
If bidders wish to view the paintings, arrangements can be made via the Storm Trysail office. Bidding will close at 5 pm (eastern) on January 13th (start of the Annual Meeting). Note: this is an extention.
Here is a reference for recently sold Blake paintings. Bids may be made for an individual painting or as a pair. Bidding will start at $5,000 for each painting and there must be a minimum increment of $500 over the previous bid. To win, a bid must exceed the highest individual bids combined.
